5 Best Wedding Venues – Ever

Le Château d’Esclimont – France

A girl’s wedding day is supposed to be the most special day of her life with the only close comparison being the birth of her first child. Now, the latter has some serious draw backs like excruciating pain followed by two dozen years of thankless, unpaid slavery – the former, however, could live up to expectations provided that everything is perfect. Perfection, however, is sadly elusive so other than all the invites and decor hiring headaches involved, you have to have the ideal location. The following suggestions do, sadly, require you to have a large pocketbook, so be prepared.

5: L’orto degli Angeli – Umbria, Italy

L'orto degli Angeli - Umbria, Italy

Situated within the heart of Umbria, the L’orto degli Angeli (Garden of Angels) is a gorgeous estate that has played host to some of the most magnificent weddings around. Although the property has a website and there’s quite a bit of information on it, this is still a relatively well kept secret considering the beauty of the place. Complete with an ancient Roman theatre dating back to the century just after the birth of Christ, your wedding guests would have a veritable feast of the senses – virtually guaranteeing that anything else that ran amiss during your ceremony would be entirely dismissed.

4: The Beach – Bali, Indonesia

Although Bali was plagued with tourism warnings, due to terrorist bombings, in the middle of the previous decade the country has made a good comeback. This most certainly due to the sheer splendour of the beaches, as well as the 30 percent decrease in their currency value. Bali is now one of the most popular wedding and honeymoon destinations and, back in 2010, received the Best Island award from Travel and Leisure.

3: Cathedral Peak Hotel – Drakensberg, South Africa

If you want to be different then it’s hard to beat getting married up in the mountains and South Africa’s Drakensberg range seems to offer the perfect opportunity. Although this may seem like the place where Heidi learned to yodel in a pitch so high that her 80 year old grandfather could hear her from several peaks away, the Drakensberg is several degrees warmer than the Swiss Alps and therefore, far more pleasant.

2: Le Château d’Esclimont – France

It’s hard to imagine a wedding that could possibly outdo yours when you were married within the grounds (or halls) of a renaissance palace, complete with moat. A mere hour from Paris itself, this impeccable estate is well known as the wedding venue supreme and for good reason. With a heated outdoor swimming pool, in-room massages, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and a million more options besides, your guests will never stop talking about your wedding day.

Taj Palace, Pichola Lake, Rajasthan, India

1: Taj Palace, Pichola Lake, Rajasthan, India

A floating palace of marble and no, you haven’t just fallen through a pothole into Narnia. The Taj Lake Palace covers an impressive four-acre island and wedding services just happen to be one of their specialities. Complete with the Aravalli Mountains on one side and palaces and towers on the other, this is most likely the most fairy tale location for a wedding on the face of the planet.

For those of you who don’t earn a writers salary, however, well – there’s always Vegas. The other alternative would be to hire an event management company.
